Home Care Ministry

This ministry is an extension of pastoral care. Our pastor sees our church family on a regular basis but some need more frequent visits. Presently we have about seven people who are seen at least once a month, and others more frequently.

These visits are because our people are unable to get to church on a regular basis. This is our church’s first venture into this type of ministry, and we are learning the needs with every visit. This ministry is especially important for those in a hospice setting.

It is necessary to spell out what our care-givers can do and how far we can go to help. Those involved in this ministry come with various talents. As we become more organized we will appeal to our congregation to share their talents and we will be able to direct them to people with various needs. We will also be able to enlist those in the congregation just to visit, prepare a meal, read to them, or supply some other need. All needs are relayed to the pastor. Any special needs will then be directed to the appropriate people.

So far the people being seen are pleased with the program, and those working in it are just as happy to be involved. The people we see are delightful and it is a pleasure to spend time with them. As we become more involved we will find more ways to get involved in their care as church visitors.
